Bend the Arc

The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office "Bend the Arc" grant program has successfully distributed more than $280,000 in grants to almost 60 local organizations. Groups are eligible to receive up to $5,000 in grant funds to work against racial inequity in Santa Clara County. The grants come from the office's Asset Forfeiture Fund.

The grant program was launched in the wake of George Floyd's murder as part of the Santa Clara County District Attorney's broader reform efforts. SVUDL used the award to strengthen the Speech and Debate program at Andrew P. Hill High School in San Jose that enrolled over 300 students, primarily low-income students of color, including many English language learners. The arc of the moral universe may bend toward justice, but it doesn't bend on its own. It bends when we put our hand on that arc and nudge it forward. Thank you to the District Attorney's Office for creating real opportunity and helping to strengthen our community in the process.
