Meet Kierra Jackson: SVUDL Alumna Joins Board of Directors
In her early Speech and Debate career at East Palo Alto Phoenix Academy, Kierra competed in numerous Policy Debate tournaments under the tutelage of SVUDL, eventually participating in NAUDL's 2017 national championship tournament.
Receiving her B.A. in Psychology with an emphasis in Critical Race at University of California, Merced, she supplemented her studies with leadership and community engagement. As President of "Afrikans for Retention and Outreach," a living-learning community on campus, Kierra's passion for community and student fellowship blossomed.
Kierra now works with students from her own community, providing support for college access and training young professionals as the Program Manager for Foundation for a College Education for ninth and tenth grade students.
And now, as the newest member of the SVUDL Board of Directors, Kierra brings a rare vantage point: she knows firsthand what SVUDL's mission means to the students it serves, because she was once one of them and now has the privilege of working directly with them. We couldn't be more excited to have her voice at the table.
